Addition to the Museum of Cognac History collection

In the end of 2010 a new museum piece appeared in the Museum of Cognac History. It was a real wine-meter Bernado of XIX century. The acquisition was placed in the uniquecollection of tools and household things of wine-makers from Cognac.

In XIX century this apparatus was used for estimating wine alcoholic content during cognac producing. The apparatus, which work was based on capillary capacity, was very popular as it saved from errors in measurement. This simple and tiny wine-meter consists of a gauged capillary pipe which is sharp-pointed from one-side and globular-pointed from another one serving a stem of the apparatus while working.

The wine-meter Bernado was found in Cognac and brought to Russia into the Museum by the KiN Group’s creative director Philippe Seys. In spite of its advanced years the apparatus is in condition. Manual and original case of the instrument are also saved.

It is the fourth year when the Museum dazzles each visitor making everyone feeling and realizing its wealth of history, traditions and culture of the fragrant beverage drinking. The unique for Russia collection becomes wider and doesn’t lose its genuineness. All the museum pieces are still from Cognac. With the museum widening the gaps in history and ancient technology of ‘gods’ liqueur’ producing become closed.
