Exceptional day and night at the Museum of Cognac History
On the 15 of May Moscow rollicked celebrating the International Museum Day at dark. In the centre of the capital there were heaps of people trying hardest to become familiar with culture and knowledge. At the same time in the north of Moscow the only Museum of Cognac History in Russia created a pacific atmosphere of the French region Cognac. The Museum’s doors were open for all the guests from 2 p.m. till 2 a.m. During this time more than 500 visitors could take a look at the unique collection.
It is the second time the Museum of Cognac History participates in celebrating of the International Museum Day. By the way visiting of this exhibition disposed in a real ‘Charante house’ onsite Moscow wine and cognac distillery KiN was at the high level the same as in the previous year. It was interesting and engrossing for all the guests. Before the excursion while waiting in a queue the guests got down the Walk of Fame made by the KiN Group staff on account of the Great Victory Anniversary. Here some of them read the KiNmen’s recollections about their relatives at the war and came to know the military history and heroism of the enterprise that celebrates 70-anniversary this year. Others walked into a factory store ‘KiN’ and enjoyed the odor of the bloomy lilac in the fresh shade of it.
Since 2 p.m. a steady flow of visitors had started. Despite blazing sunshine those people preferred the Museum of Cognac History to BBQ. Museum guide gathered gladly those who interested in secrets of ‘gods’ liqueur’ in groups, related them the facts from the rich history of the KiN distillery and shared useful and necessary information about the cognac history, specifics of fabrication method and glorified rich flavor and full-bodied aroma of the legendary drink. The Charante alembic, a cousin of a hooch still, which you may hardly see anywhere else in Russia was surely of special interest.
After the excursion there was a taste test for guests. At the territory of the factory a pure white pavilion was pitched where all the visitors savored excellent brandies ‘KiNovsky’ and ‘Stary Gorod’ accompanied by a story of the sensor laboratory workers about basic tasting, gastronomic pairs and culture of consumption. By the tent there was a ‘fragrant table’ with 8 key odors of the brandy. Thereby everyone could draw a parallel between his/her sensations and the benchmark.
After the tasting test everyone got presents: flasks with registered brandy ‘KiNovsky’, perceived discounts in the factory store ‘KiN’ and showy balloons with lettering: ‘I’ve spent a night in the Museum of Cognac’. While leaving everyone was satisfied and promised to turn back again and again.
It is clear that during the past years not only interest of the Russians to the magic beverage grows but also their knowledge of its rich history. It is confirmed by more than 50 excursions held by the KiN Group employees during 12 hours of the ‘opened doors’. The event not just introduced the museum guests to the beverage but brought the visitors into the magic world of Cognac: beautiful weather reminding lukewarm climate of France, oak scent inside the ‘Charante house’, birdsongs and purl of water. And this atmosphere occurred to have favorable effect not only on grapes but also on people. The pleased guests left the museum in a good mood, thanked the museum guides and were liberal of positive responses in the guestbook of the Museum of Cognac History:
«Dear organizers, your museum is unique and it is a real zest. So many infrequent museum pieces collected in one place are a real rarity and I feel choky. It is immediately obvious that the Museum was created with love and respect to the history of such a beverage as Brandy. We appreciated your creating a small world, a real piece of Cognac region. When we entered the museum we brightened up; we hadn’t expected such a warm welcome, interesting surroundings and an exciting story of a guide. We have learned a lot and therefore we THANK SINCIRELY ALL THE STAFF who labored at the Museum of Cognac creating and worked all day long! Managing is at the top level! Wait for us next year!»
